But wait amid all the fun you forgot about the most important and practical thing which is choosing the right doctor and the hospital. Well!! You thought that its a very easy task okay then let me tell you it isn’t.
When I was Pregnant, the City (Gurgaon) was a fairly new place for me and I found it difficult to find the right gynecologist so I changed three during my entire pregnancy before landing on to Dr. Pretty Aggarwal who is a senior gynecologist at best maternity hospital Cloudnine. She is also a visiting doctor in many hospitals so I had the privilege of choosing the Hospital where I wanted to deliver.
Now again, does it matter choosing the right hospital? Yes, it does if you want to have a good birthing experience, amazing postpartum experience, chose the level of care you and your baby receive. Let me tell you, place of birth and the staff go hand in hand so it does really matter a lot!!!
I searched the Internet, Facebook groups/Baby Center groups for reviews and shortlisted 2 hospitals.Visited both the hospital with my partner and after the hospital tour decided on delivering at best maternity hospital Cloudnine.
Factors which decide the Best Hospital for Labour and Delivery
- Hospital Infrastructure needs to be adequate. It’s very important for the hospital to handle any emergency that may arise during birth.
- First, decide on a good Gynaec and when you are done doing that your Gynaec can suggest a good hospital.
- The look for a hospital which has well-equipped maternity unit. Effective pain relief during labor, general anesthesia, electronic foetal monitor, and an ultrasound machine.
- Approachability to the hospital, it must not be too far however how good it is.
- Good Paediatric care with Incubators and NICU for greater peace of mind.
- Birth Classes and support groups for Yoga, New moms, breastfeeding.
- A hospital that allows the father to step inside, skin to skin contact instantly with the baby, photography, light, filming.
- Flexible visiting hours, food available for guests and partner, beds for partner, quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
- Check with your insurance cover about which hospitals and what limit is covered under medical cover.
I am a Cloudnine Mom
My Experience at Clounine hospital was world class; I had the best team of doctors attending during and after the delivery. I had an emergency C-Sec and the staffs were prepared before I reached the hospital.
The Foetal monitor ensured that my little one was safe inside. Within an hour my baby was out and it was an amazing experience with the doctor and friendly staff by my side.
Even after that while my baby was kept at ICU my family was allowed to visit and see him from outside.
The room was well equipped with a sofa for my partner to rest and relax. The food was also according to my needs and there was a dietician who kept all my precautions and allergies in mind. The physiotherapist gave me the right exercises I needed to start after few weeks of delivery. My Gynecologist visited me every day twice just to ensure I was doing completely fine there was another round of doctors who kept visiting either for my baby or for me.
The Paediatric team was the rock and even the nurses that helped to breastfeed my baby. They ensured that my baby did not have to take top feed even once. Every time I asked for help to latch and they helped me with a smile.
The lactation consultant who gave me the right advice on food and supplements I need to take.
They even arranged for a photo shoot for my little bundle and a small celebration in the room after my baby was born. The room was decorated with blue balloons even my car was well decorated when we left for home.
I think I had the best birthing experience, and after experiencing that and hearing horror stories of my friends who had terrible experiences at another hospital now I recommend everyone to visit Cloudnine once before deciding their hospital.
