“What don’t you like it? It’s good for health, please have it fast!!!”
I have this argument with my son almost every day. While this does not start my day on the right note, at the same time, I am also quite worried about his health. Every morning his school bus is on time, and I find my little one running with his bag while I hold the half-filled glass in my hand and breakfast plate in the other one. This is a typical scene at my place every morning. This leaves me worried about his health & I am worried if he will ever get used to the idea of having milk every day!
My little one is a fussy eater, and homemade food does not interest him. On the other hand, he loves junk food and given an option; he can have chips, cold drinks all day. Every day I make efforts to wake up early to prepare his breakfast so that he eats healthy food. However, he does not co-operate with me.
I have also made efforts to make his food interesting by adding different flavors to his milk. Like any other fussy kid, he does not seem to relish milk in any format. He always makes faces when milk is a part of his meal. I worry about his nutrition and growth when we waste his milk and this happens on most days.
Even the other day he was running in the park and complained of leg pain. I took him to the doctor the next day.
Just recalling my conversation with my doctor below –
“Doctor!! He complains of leg pain throughout the night”
“Please get his vitamin D checked. I think he has low calcium in his body; you need to increase his milk intake or anything that supplements it.
The moment I heard that from my doctor, my eyes teared up. I felt at some level I was not fulfilling my responsibility as a mother. I have sacrificed my everything for him, and here he is bearing the brunt of his fussy attitude. I did not know what I could do to improve this. I was very upset about the whole thing. When we got home, I gave him his prescribed medicine and went to sleep.
The next day, I shared my problem with a friend of mine. She has two kids, and both of them come to the same park and love playing together with my son. I asked her how she managed to give them milk. Recipe 1 – Ingredients
- Cavin’s Chocolate Shake
- Cavin’s Vanilla Shake
- Chocolate Syrup
- Chocolate Sauce
- Refrigerate Cavin’s Chocolate and Vanilla milk separately in two containers.
- Take a medium size bowl
- Dip a Chocolate Biscuit in Chocolate Sauce place it in the bowl.
- Scoop a Vanilla and Chocolate to top it.
- Repeat this process thrice.
- Pour Chocolate sauce at the end.
- Yummy Biscuit pudding is ready.
Recipe 2 – Ingredients
- Chocolate/Vanilla ice cream
- 1/4 c of melted chocolate
- 1 pack of vanilla Cavins milkshake
- 1 pack of Chocolate Cavins milkshake
- Some nutcracker and sprinklers
- Using a spoon coat the outer rim of the glass with chocolate and sprinkle some sprinkles on top of the chocolate.
- Pour some vanilla milkshake, and then add some chocolate milkshake. Repeat this 3 times until your glass is 3/4th filled
- Dress this in some ice cream
- You can add melted chocolate on top of it and also add the sprinklers.
- Add the snack bite and serve.
