A pregnant body needs around 10 cups of fluids every day. This includes 2-3 glasses of milk, 1-2 glasses of juices and also liquid derived from eating fruits and vegetables. But with fruits juices, it’s not meant to dwell into fruit punches or cocktails they bring along loads of calories and sugar which is not healthy for the body. So replace it with healthy juices or milk.

In the third trimester, you should increase the intake of water by 1-2 glasses to support your baby’s growth. If its warm weather then definitely 2-4 glasses of water to balance the temperature outside or if you are exercising.

Dehydration during pregnancy can lead to headaches, nausea, cramps, and dizziness. Not drinking enough water can cause the urine to become dilute which can then increase the risk of infection. Constipation which is a very common problem during pregnancy is also increased if you don’t have enough water during pregnancy.
Can you drink hot water during pregnancy?
Doctors generally ask you to avoid drinking too hot water because an elevated temperature inside the body might not be good for the developing baby. So pregnant woman is also not advised to take saunas or hot water bath.
But drinking Luke warm water is always advisable in fact it has a lot of benefits like

Tips to increase the intake of water
- If you don’t like drinking plain water just add a bit of lemon, or mint leaves. You can also drink fluids like juices, coconut water
- Set a timer to drink one glass of water every 1 hour that will help you not forget
- Keep a water bottle with you whenever you are traveling or exercising so that you don’t miss drinking when you are thirsty.
