I have very fond memories of Children’s day being celebrated in school with pomp and show. We got to wear colorful dresses and participate in many activities, have good food. Teachers treated us in a special way. What awesome memories!!!
But once I was home, it was all normal just like any other day. I always felt why my parents didn’t make me feel special that day. My mom always told me children’s day is a school activity and somehow the idea of celebrating it at home was never there.
Children’s day is celebrated on 14th of November, the birth anniversary of Pt. Nehru, because he loved children so much. Children participate in the activities like singing songs in Hindi and English, poem recitation, speech, dance, etc to remember Chacha Nehru’s great works for the country.
But among all the pomp and show the real intention behind celebrating children’s Day should not be forgotten.Children’s day celebration is very necessary to be celebrated every year in order to aware people about the real status of children, importance of children in the country as well as improve their status to make their future bright because they are the future of the country. Children day celebration provides a big opportunity to everyone especially neglecting people of the country. It forces them to think about future of their children by realizing them duty and responsibility towards children.
Now, being a mother, I want my little one to feel special that day at home. So, i started exploring ideas and gifts and make this as the best children’s day for him. I don’t want the gifts to be usual ones but something unique and exciting for him.
Invite his friends home
I am thinking of inviting all his friends home and throw a surprise party for him. He loves having his friends over. Spread all the cookies and food with their favorite activities. Put some animated movie and let them have fun. As return favors, I am planning to give them these cute packs of Cadbury Dairy milk. I am sure these kids are going to love it.
Go to a baking Class Together
Well, there are many activities planned in the city around children’s day. Baking is one of these and my little helper loves helping me in the kitchen especially while i bake desserts so with kids around i am sure he is gonna love it and enjoy a lot!!! Cooking class where the two of us will learn how to whip up favorite pancakes, the lasting effect of a positive experience shared definitely has a longer shelf-life than a brand-new iPad.
Let him have his “First Experience ” as a Gift
Let him have his first experience of climbing an artificial mountain, playing golf, attending a theatre concert. A first experience is something that will be a start of something new – a career choice, a new healthy hobby or an activity that keeps the family united and strong. This can also be a career choice for him so introducing new things in early childhood help kids to have a broader perspective on career choice.
Yes, making a scrapbook is a great way of spending quality time. These books are a great way to tell the story of your child’s life.It is also an artistic way to store memories and create deep impact in the mind of your child. These are also creative skills which help them later in their all-round development, these also teach them to be patient and calm.
Pretend and Play
This children’s day I am planning to become a child myself. Pretend to be a superwoman and let him be his favorite character, Superman. Stage a set at home and have fun fighting, running, chasing around each other. These moments develop a bond with kids which no expensive gift can ever build.
Gift an instrument
Gifting a new instrument to learn is supporting your child’s early development.Making your own sounds, melodies and sounds are very important.Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for social readiness. Intellectual, social, emotional, motor, language, and literacy development. Music helps your child’s body and mind to work together. It also doubles up a child-parent bond in a beautiful way.
The most delightful gift to win the heart of a little one is mouthwatering chocolates. Yes, we all eat Cadbury and buy it to our kids almost all the time. but ever thought of giving you little one as a gift. Make this day sweet by spending time, playing around, being a kid again and sharing Cadbury!!!
Yes, my little one loves Cars, pretend & play toys, so I am gonna buy few toys for him. Stem toys are also a super choice for their logical brain development. Superman is his favorite Action Figure so even that will be exciting. He has a sand and water table which is also a great treasure during summer holidays. So explore and go for a good investment.
Take them out for camping or picnic
Have you ever gone camping with your kids, that might sound adventurous but you can even do it in your own backyard? Even the thought of sleeping in a tent will make them very excited. Its important for kids to stay close to nature and what better way to teach than this. Well, I used to go for lots of Picnics with friends, family at schools. These are very rare activities these days so they will definitely enjoy this than going to a mall!!!
Plan a DIY activity
Make a solar system using clay, blackboard, and chalk . or using egg cartons to make masks and animals. DIY activities so helpful in making them learn cognitive and logical stuff. Inculcating the habit of making the best out of waste teach them to respect everything in life whether they need it or not. How to optimize the usage of stuff rather than spending money unnecessarily.
Hope you had fun exploring these ideas as much as I had curating them for you. So this children’s day “Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye” and let’s make it special for our kids in our own way. Do Share in comments on what you ended up doing finally!!!
